The
Spanishwoman's Kitchen
by Pepita Aris
Synopsis
This work brings together over 125 reginal and seasonal
Spanish recipes. Gathered from disparate sources, such
as mothers, grandmothers, a Marquesa, and a Franciscan
nun, the dishes include a rich bean and suasage pot,
chilled soups, and real paella from Valencia.
Book Information
Spain has a vast and varied landscape: towering mountains,
snowcapped even in summer, cool upland valleys, arid
semi-desert landscapes, dramatic coastlines and verdant
countryside are just a few of the regional contrasts
to be found. As varied as the regions themselves are
the domestic recipes and food styles, reflecting the
experience of generations in getting the best from simple
ingredients. Home cooking can be said to be the true
flavour and character of Spanish cuisine.

I
am a real lover of cooking and cookery books from
around the world. I believe a cookbook should be more
than just a collection of recipes, so much more enjoyable
to read of the region each dish comes from, some history.
Beside being a real treasure trove of scrumptious
recipes, (tried many of them already!), it makes great
reading and is a delight to the eye too. I heartily
recommend this book for those who like something extra
from their cookery books.
