Aunt Arlene's Meatloaf

"The basic recipe for this delicious meatloaf is my aunts, and I added my own "special sauce" for the top.  ;~)".


2/3 cup dry bread crumbs
1 cup milk
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup onion, grated
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon sage
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • Soak bread crumbs in milk for 5 minutes; add eggs, meat, onion, pepper, sage, and salt.
  • Mix well and put in a loaf pan.
  • In small bowl, mix ketchup, dry mustard, brown sugar and nutmeg.
  • Spread over meatloaf.
  • Bake for one hour.
