niece and nephew absolutely 'hated' mayonnaise.
The first time I made it, I didn't tell them
and now it's their favorite cake. I've also
made muffins with this recipe".
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup raisins
2 cups water
2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts (of your choice)
water and raisins to a boil; add soda and
all of the other ingredients and mix well.
at 350º in 2 greased, floured loaf pans
(9 x 5 x 2 3/4).
at 45 minutes with a toothpick. If still gooey,
let them bake 5 minutes more.
again, etc., not cooking over 1 hour.
