Treacle Tart

I asked to be able to feature more of their recipes as I consider that they have an excellent selection which are clearly laid out and interesting - making them one of the leading UK recipe sites.


200g / 7oz Shortcrust Pastry
3 tbsp Black Treacle
2 tbsp Fresh White Breadcrumbs

  • Preheat the oven to 220ºC, 425ºF, Gas mark 7.

  • On a floured board, roll out the pastry and use to line a 23cm / 8 inch flan tin. Line with greaseproof paper, fill with baking beans and bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, very gently heat the treacle in a small saucepan.

  • Remove the beans and paper from the pastry case and pour in the warmed treacle. Top with the breadcrumbs then return to the oven for a further 15 minutes. Serve hot.
