the cream and fruit cake tops the list and has
done so for many decades, but this one is delicious
in all its simplicity! It's best with home-made
applesauce which is very easy to make".
2 dl (good 3/4 cup) sugar
2 dl (good 3/4 cup) flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 dl (1/3 cup) water
2 tbs water
2 tbs sugar
100 g (3 1/2 oz) butter or margarine
1 1/3 dl (good 1/2 cup) sugar
1 1/2 tbs milk
2 tbs flour
2 tbs cocoa powder
1/2 dl (scant 1/4 cup) flaked almonds
the oven to 200ºC / 400ºF. Grease
and flour a round baking dish, diameter approx
24 cm / 9" - 10".

in the egg batter and then add the flour mixture.
Pour in the dish and bake for about 30 minutes.

and cut them in smaller pieces. Boil them with
the water in a small saucepan, covered, for
10 - 15 minutes. Add sugar and mash the fruit
with a fork or in a mixer.
all ingredients for the chocolate fudge sauce,
except for the flaked almonds, and bring to
a boil while stirring. Allow to cool.
the cake in 2 layers. Spread approx 3 dl (1
1/4 cups) applesauce between the layers, put
the layers together and pour the sauce over
the cake. Sprinkle with flaked almonds.
