Poppy Seed Bread

Ingredients

3 eggs
1 1/4 cups oil
3 cups flour
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons each vanilla, almond and butter extracts
1 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds

Glaze:
1/4 cup orange juice
3/4 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon each vanilla, almond and butter extracts

Method
  • Preheat oven to 350º.
  • Grease and flour 2 loaf pans.
  • Mix together ingredients and bake for one hour.
  • Mix glaze.
  • While bread is still warm, poke about 7 to 10 holes in each loaf. Pour glaze slowly over entire loaves.
  • Allow glaze to soak in and then turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.

Glaze:

  • In small pan mix ingredients.
  • Bring to boil over medium high heat. Boil about 1 minute.
  • Allow to cool slightly before pouring over breads.
