recipes comes from Dancer
and Graphic artist Martin James. Martin, who originally
comes from New Zealand, is now living with his
wife and children in Copenhagen as he is currently
principal Dancer with The Royal Danish Ballet.

so gifted it seems unfair that Martin should also
be talented in the kitchen as well but he has
agreed to share some of his recipes with us which
is great news.
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups ripe figs, mashed
3/4 cup peanut oil
3 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped pecans
eggs, add sugar and beat well.
together flour, soda, salt and cinnamon.
the fig mixture alternately with the buttermilk.
well then fold in pecans.
at 350º for 1 hour in greased and floured
