Recipe for family meals :

Blackberry and Apple Crumble

This recipes comes from Dancer and Graphic artist Martin James. Martin, who originally comes from New Zealand, is now living with his wife and children in Copenhagen as he is currently principal Dancer with The Royal Danish Ballet. You will be able to find out more about Martin when his Biography page is published.

Being so gifted it seems unfair that Martin should also be talented in the kitchen as well but he has agreed to share some of his recipes with us which is great news.

1 kg cooking apples
500g blackberries
75g sugar

250g plain flour
175g butter
75g sugar

  • Add the sugar and blackberries and toss gently.
  • Cover the fruit with the crumble mixture.
  • Bake for 20 minutes then reduce heat to 180°C / Gas 5 and bake for 30 minutes longer until the crumble is golden and the juices are bubbling through.
  • Serve warm with cream.
