Recipe for family meals :

Cream Biscuits

This is one of the recipes that has been provided by Shirley Cline from San Francisco in response to my quest for recipes using Balsamic Vinegar. (You can contact Shirley by emailing her - click here).

2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp baking powder
2 tsp sugar
1 -1 1/2 cups heavy cream
6 tbsp butter (melted (about 1/2 cup)

  • Preheat oven to 425°.
  • Use an ungreased baking sheet or baking "stone".
  • Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl, slowly add 1 cup of cream to the mixture, stirring constantly.
  • Gather the dough together and knead for one minute on a lightly floured surface. If the dough seems dry, blend in a little more cream, not too much though, just enough to make the dough hold together.
  • Pat the dough into a square about 1/2" thick.
  • Cut into twelve squares and dip each into the melted butter so that all sides are coated.
  • Place the biscuits 2 inches apart on the baking sheet and bake until they are lightly browned, about 15 minutes.
