Crockpot Sweet and Sour Brisket Stew

1 1/2 pound trimmed Brisket
1/2 cup diced onion
1 x 7 ounce can of sliced Mushrooms and the juice
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup vinegar
1 x 12 ounce can of beer
1 tablespoon corn starch

  • Put everything, except the corn starch into a crockpot and cook on the low setting for 12 hours.
  • Remove the meat, shred and return to the crockpot
  • Mix corn starch to a tablespoon of cold water, stir, and add to the crockpot.
  • As an option, the meat could be sliced and the thickened broth served as a gravy.

Makes about 1 1/2 quarts
