asked Vandana for a little background information:
live in Pune, India. I am a South Indian so many of
my recipes are from that area. I enjoy cooking and my
family and friends do say that it is appetizing! By
profession I am a Relocation Consultant and the India
head of an International Charity. I hope that covers
cup plain flour
1 cup chopped nuts and glace fruits
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ghee*
1 tbs cooca powder
1 tbs golden syrup
1 tsp rose water
1 tsp orange essence
1/2 tsp nutmeg powder
1/2 tsp cardomom powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
1/4 cup rum
1/4 cup orange juice
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
in any Indian grocery shop
plain flour with cocoa, spice powders and baking powder
and baking soda.
ghee and brown sugar until fluffy.
in the eggs one at a time.
rum, essence, rose water and orange juice.
in the flour mixure and rum mixure alternately until
in a greased and floured 8 inch tin at 180°C for
30 - 35 minutes.
