Steak with Rum and Mushroom Sauce

"This would work well with any tender cut of meat, ground beef patties, or chicken breasts. Cooking is a Creative Sport".


2 Chuck Eye or Top Sirloin (5 Ounce) Steaks
1 Tin (4 ounce) of Mushrooms Stems and Pieces
1/4 Cup liquid from the tin of Mushrooms
1/4 Cup Rum
1/4 Cup Water
1 Tablespoon Butter
1 Tablespoon Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

  • Rub both sides of the steak, first with the pepper and then the olive oil.
  • Sear in a dry frying pan for 3 1/2 minutes per side.
  • Remove the steaks from the pan and add the butter, stirring until melted. Reduce the heat and add the flour, rum, liquid from the mushrooms and the mushrooms.
  • Stir until the sauce thickens. If the sauce is too thick, you may add the water. Taste and add salt if needed.
  • Serve with a Baked Potato, and a side salad or vegetable.
