Recipe for family meals :

Golden Sugar Cookies

It is many years since Hub-UK was first launched. It has been created from recipes contributed form all over the world, from professionals and amateurs alike. A great many of the recipes do not have any details as to who sent them in or from where they came. It would be a shame not to share them with you for this reason alone.

This is one such recipe. If you know where it originated, or perhaps it is even yours, let me know and I will add the necessary credits and acknowledgements.

"The most indispensable ingredient of all good home cooking - love, for those you are cooking for" ~ Sophia Loren.

Ingredients

2 1/2 cup sifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp lemon favouring
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 cup sugar
2 x egg yolks
1 cup butter

Method

  • Sift the first 4 Ingredients together.
  • Cream the butter, the lemon favouring and the vanilla together until butter is softened.
  • Add sugar gradually, creaming until fluffy after each addition.
  • Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Add a quarter of the dry Ingredients at a time, beating until just blended.
  • Make balls 1 inch in diameter and palce about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
