2 3/4 cup flour
2 tbsp orange rind, grated
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
3 x eggs

1 cup molasses
1 tsp nutmeg
1/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup brandy, fruitjuice or coffee
Washington's mother's recipe uses no ginger. Fruit juice
or coffee may be substituted for brandy.
