Bread Pudding

It is many years since Hub-UK was first launched. It has been created from recipes contributed form all over the world, from professionals and amateurs alike.

This recipe for Bread Pudding is one such recipe which comes from Peggy Critchfield in the UK.

"This is the one my Grand mother used to make in the Second World War and which I make for all my friends and family. Do not scrimp on any of the ingrediants as it will not be up to my standard. Cook and enjoy. Please let me know if you liked it."

Ingredients for Bread Pudding

1 loaf of bread (I use wholemeal)
6ozs white sugar
8ozs currants
8ozs sultanas
3ozs margarine
1ozs mixed spice

How to make Bread Pudding

  • Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F / Gas mark 4
  • Soak bread in cold water for about 30 minutess, then squeeze out as much water as you can.
  • Put into a big bowl add margarine, sugar, currants and sultanas then mix all together with your hands until it is thoroughly mixed.
  • Add all the mixed spice and mix it all together again with your hands.
  • Put the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for approximately 2 to 3 hours, test with a knife and when it comes out clean it is cooked.
