Recipe for :

Bul-Kogi (Korean BBQ Beef)

This is one of the recipes which we have been given permission to reproduce by another of the UK recipe sites, Recipes4us. It is a big site with a wealth of information and recipes, as well as a first class barbecue section for the summer. If you would like to have a look at their website click here.

Have a look at Florence Sandeman's (who is the Editor of Recipes4us) Biography page to find out why and how she gained her passion for cooking.

Ingredients

1kg/2.2lb Steak, e.g. Sirloin, Rump, fillet
3 Spring Onions, finely chopped
4 Garlic Cloves, crushed
5 tbsp Soy Sauce
2 tbsp Sesame Oil
1 tbsp Sesame Seeds
50g/2oz Sugar
2 tbsp Sherry
Black pepper

Method
  • Slice the beef diagonally against the grain into very thin slices. Score each piece with a shallow cross using a very sharp knife. Set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients until well blended.
  • Add the meat to the mixture and mix well. Cover and leave to marinate for at least 2 hours.
  • Cook over hot coals for 5 - 8 minutes on each side. Serve hot.
