Recipe for :

Tandoori Chicken

This is one of the recipes that has been provided by Vandana who is very much a keen cook of Indian dishes. Hopefully there will be more to come!


800 gm whole chicken cut into large pieces
1 tsp Paprika
1tbspn lemon juice
Salt to taste

200 gm yogurt
1/2 tsp Paprika
salt to taste
2 tbs ginger paste
2 tbs garlic paste
2 tbs lemon juice
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
2 tbs corn oil
Butter for basting

For Garnishing:
Onion rings
Lemon wedges
Sprigs of mint leaves

  • Wash and clean the chicken.
  • Make incisions on the breast and leg pieces with a sharp knife.
  • Apply a mixture of Paprika,lemon juice and salt to the chicken and keep it aside for half an hour.
  • Pour the yogurt into a muslin cloth and hang it for 15 - 20 minutes and drain out the whey.
  • Add Paprika, salt, ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, Garam Masala powder and corn oil to the yogurt and mix well.
  • Apply this marinade to the chicken pieces and chill for 3 - 4 hours.
  • In a preheated oven at 210ºC bake the pieces for about 15 minutes until golden brown, baste the pieces with butter and turn them on the other side and cook for about 15 minutes or till they turn golden brown.
  • Serve hot with onion rings, lemon wedges and sprigs of mint.
