Ginger Soy Flank Steak

He has been in the food service business for over twenty years, and is currently working at General Mills for Aramark as the Catering Chef. He graduated from French Culinary School in the late 1980's and has since worked at restaurants, country clubs, hotels and a health spa.

"Flank steak is a relatively cheap cut of beef that is very delicious when grilled or sautéd. This recipe pairs the flank steak with ginger and soy sauce to give it an Asian flavor that is zesty good"


2 tablespoons minced ginger
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon red chili flakes
juice from one lime
1 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame seed oil
1 flank steak - 1.5 lbs

  • Mix the ginger, minced garlic, red chili flakes, lime juice, brown sugar, soy sauce and sesame seed oil in a small bowl and pour over flank steak.
  • Let sit for one hour.
  • Clean grill with a grill brush and towel. Heat grill on a high setting for 5 minutes.
  • Place the flank steak on the grill and reduce heat to a medium setting. Cook for 5 minutes and flip flank steak, cook another 3 - 5 minutes and remove from heat.

This beef recipe can be served with any potato of your choice as well as vegetable. This recipe would work very well with sautéed Asian vegetable and a rice blend.
