If you really want to make your mum smile this Mother’s Day, then try spoiling her with a delicious home made treat.

Whether you’re spending the day with your mum or letting her know you’re thinking of her, Kirstie Allsopp, the queen of all things home made, has conjured up a sumptuous Chocolate Fudge recipe especially for Mother’s Day.

Impossible to resist and oozing with a deliciously creamy chocolate flavour, the recipe contains just four ingredients - chocolate, butter, icing sugar and the all important Nestlé Carnation Condensed Milk. It is this key ingredient which will create a delicious fudge texture and flavour as well as stopping the chocolate from going hard at room temperature.

In the following video, she shows you just how simple it is to make this Chocolate Fudge and present it as a beautiful boxed gift. So what are you waiting for? Grab your apron and mixing bowl and make your mum proud!

HOME MADE CHOCOLATE FUDGE

Home made Chocolate Fudge"Impossible to resist and oozing with a deliciously creamy chocolate flavour, the recipe contains just four ingredients."

Ingredients

400g (14oz) dark or milk chocolate
397g can Carnation Condensed Milk
25g (1oz) butter
100g (3½oz) icing sugar
55g (2oz) roasted chopped nuts (optional)

Method

  • Chop the chocolate into small chunks and place in a non-stick saucepan with the condensed milk and butter, heat very gently, stirring occasionally until melted and smooth.
  • (Alternatively place these ingredients into a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 10-20 second bursts, stirring frequently until the mixture is silky smooth).
  • Use any chocolate you like – I like dark chocolate and have made this with the orange and spice chocolate for Christmas which is divine!
  • Beat the icing sugar into the mixture until combined thoroughly.
  • Press the fudge into an 18cm (7in) square tin, smooth over the top and press the nuts into the surface, if using. It really is that easy!
  • Chill in the fridge for 1 hour until set, cut into squares.
